Jo W. Bryan is a Texas Panhandle-born artist with a love for the unusual, the transparent, and the colorful in nature. Her favorite medium is watercolor due to its multiple layers, its transparency and the surprises the medium itself brings to each painting. With watercolor, no picture is totally predictable, and creativity is mandated. Jo likes to capture a picture that creates an emotion. The subjects of her paintings are often photographs she has taken. (If you travel with her, be prepared to wait while she takes just one more picture!) Jo Bryan has retired from several careers ranging from teaching to counseling, from managing a medical office to real estate, all the while continuing to love art and work on it when she could. Now, she plans to spend lots of time exploring new mediums and techniques that she has had in mind for a long time. Plein air painting is especially important for an artist, and she hopes to have more time to "see the colors" in all parts of the country, and maybe the world, through painting. Jo is best known for her watercolor florals, but also does landscape and still life, and has worked in oils and acrylics. She has her studio at home, welcomes inquiries or visits to the studio.
